Ashwagandha

Over the past 6,000 years, ashwagandha has been prized for its capacity to revitalise and rejuvenate; this Indian root achieves a fine balance between nourishing and strengthening the body while bringing a peaceful, parasympathetic presence.

This potent plant, which is regarded as one of the most significant in the tradition, is still used often in the Ayurvedic system and by the general populace of India as a tonic.

In Ayurvedic medicine, Ashwagandha is used to encourage sound sleep patterns, enhance reproductive hormones, and nurture a positive response to stress in the body.

Ashwagandha is given to children (in milk) as a rasayana to support healthy development, and it is also given to the elderly to assist ease, mental calmness, and healthy ageing.

Like ginseng in the Traditional Chinese medical system, Ashwagandha has a position in the Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia but a softer energy.

Non-active ingredients • Phyllostachys nigra (bamboo extract) 15mg , Ipomoea batatas (organic sweet potato) 15mg, purified water, hypromellose (vegetable capsules).

Not to be used during pregnancy unless a trained healthcare professional is present to supervise you. Ashwagandha is frequently used in Ayurvedic medicine to encourage lactation (Kapoor, 1990), but it's best to check with your doctor to be sure there are no contraindications in your particular situation. If you have hyperthyroidism, it is not advised to take ashwagandha unless you are under a practitioner's care.
